ABOUT US

Comptek Composites Inc. is a technology development and manufacturing company based in Boulder, Colorado. Comptek was founded by Jim Lockwood in 1998 with the goal of utilizing new materials in the refurbishment of cell phone towers —  specifically Fiber Reinforced Polymer (FRP) materials.

Both the Cell Tower and Oil and Gas Pipeline industries were seeking ways to reinforce existing infrastructure rather than incurring the high cost of replacing it. Comptek’s first products were so successful that Aero Solutions, a fully owned subsidiary of Comptek, was spun off in 2002 to focus solely on the cell tower industry. Comptek’s industrial customers  were so impressed with the simplicity of Comptek’s non-welded, adhesive solutions that they began to inquire about purchasing these products  for their own personal use. These contractors had repair work at home just as critical to them as the as the large industrial infrastructures that they worked on during the day.

To meet this demand Comptek introduced Bolder Bond® and Bolder Wrap®. It is important to note that these are the same products used commercially to reinforce multi-million dollar pipelines, but packaged for the smaller household project. Engineered to withstand 3500psi, Bolder Bond® and Bolder Wrap® are manufactured with the same ingredients for both commercial and home use.

Bolder Bond® and Bolder Wrap® retail products were first made available at the largest independent hardware store in the U.S. -- McGuckins Hardware store in Boulder, CO in 2006. Since then, Comptek has offered Bolder Bond® and Bolder Wrap®  through hundreds of retail outlets.

Comptek Structural Composites Inc. is committed to Colorado, committed to manufacturing in the United States and committed to the research and development of innovative new products to help you build, create, and repair anything.
